The 46 name styles, and what each one really is

The generator on this page returns 46 distinct styles for any name you type — measured on 13 August 2026 by running the word Shadow through every style table the tool ships with. They are not fonts. Each style is a different set of Unicode characters that happens to look like styled letters, which is why the result survives a copy-paste into a game, a bio or a chat with no download involved.

Those 46 styles fall into three technical groups, and the group decides how reliably the name renders on someone else’s phone:

The basic-plane group asks the least of a device and is the safest bet for a name other players must read. The supplementary-plane group holds the styles most people come for, and needs a font covering Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols — most modern phones have one. The combining-mark group keeps the ordinary letters and stacks a mark on each, which is why a name filter still reads the plain word underneath.

That last row is the part almost nobody explains. S̸h̸a̸d̸o̸w̸ looks like six characters but is stored as twelve — six ordinary letters plus six combining slashes, 18 bytes in total. 𝓢𝓱𝓪𝓭𝓸𝔀 is only six characters but costs 24 bytes, four per letter. Sʜᴀᴅᴏᴡ sits in between at six characters and 15 bytes. So when a name field runs out of room sooner than you expected, the style you picked is usually the reason.

An attitude name usually follows one shape: a short, hard word in a heavy style, wrapped in a symbol pair. Short is the point — a long decorated name gets truncated in the kill feed, so six to ten visible letters carries better than fifteen. PUBG name with a space or a gap

A name that appears to have a gap in it is almost always using a space character the field accepts rather than a real blank. The one that has been verified working in our own testing notes is U+00A0, the no-break space — it copies and pastes as a normal-looking gap. The other character people pass around, U+3164 (Hangul Filler), has been blocked in Free Fire since the OB43 build. We have not verified U+3164 inside the PUBG Mobile rename field ourselves, so we are not going to tell you it works there — try U+00A0 first, and treat any “invisible name” guide that promises a guaranteed result with suspicion.

Why your stylish name shows as empty squares for some players

Because their phone does not have a glyph for the characters you used, so it draws an empty rectangle instead. This is not a bug in your name and not something the game did — it is the difference between the three groups in the table above. A style built from supplementary-plane letters (33 of the 46) needs a font covering Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols; a basic-plane style like Sʜᴀᴅᴏᴡ or Ｓｈａｄｏｗ asks far less of the device.

One style deserves a specific warning. The Flags style spells a name out of regional-indicator characters, and phones pair those up into country flags — so 🇸🇭🇦🇩🇴🇼 may show up as a flag rather than letters depending on the device. It is a fun style to copy for a bio; it is a poor choice for a name you want people to read.

If you want the widest compatibility, pick from the basic-plane group and add decoration with the symbols above instead of restyling every letter.

How to change your name in PUBG Mobile

You change it with a Rename Card in the inventory of PUBG Mobile, the battle-royale game published by Krafton. The first Rename Card is free once you reach Level 10, and the game allows one rename per day. Paste your copied name into the field the card opens — paste rather than retype, because the styled characters cannot be typed on a normal keyboard.

Two practical notes. Copy the name immediately before you use the card, so nothing else has overwritten your clipboard. And check how it looks at the size it will actually appear — a name that is beautiful at full width can be unreadable in a kill feed.

Names that get rejected

A name that breaks the game’s naming rules can be changed automatically, without warning, and the account can face a suspension of up to 30 days. That applies to the words in the name, not to the styling — decorating a name that was already against the rules does not hide it.

You may also see a name refused simply because the field ran out of room. As the byte counts above show, the same six letters cost 15 bytes in one style and 24 in another, so if a name is rejected for length, try a basic-plane style before you shorten the word itself. We are deliberately not quoting a character limit here: we could not find an official figure from the publisher, and repeating an unsourced number would just spread it further.

PUBG Mobile and BGMI are not the same game

PUBG Mobile and Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) are separate titles with separate accounts, and Google’s Knowledge Graph records them as separate entities. Names, styles and symbols copy across identically because both read the same Unicode, but a rename in one does not touch the other, and guides written for one do not automatically describe the other’s rules. Everything on this page is about the characters, which behave the same way in both.
